February 24–25, 2025 | Oriental Mindoro, Philippines
As part of its continuing mission to serve vulnerable communities, Foundation for the Poor Inc. (FFP) conducted a mission visit to Pastol ng Mga Dukha (Shepherd of the Poor) in Oriental Mindoro, Philippines.
The visit was led by Joey Del Prado, Founder of Foundation for the Poor Inc., together with Zandra, Social Manager, and volunteer Kring Pabico. The team was warmly welcomed by Fr. Chris Raymundo, a dedicated missionary whose life’s work centers on uplifting the indigenous Mangyan communities.
During the two-day visit, the team gained firsthand insight into the daily realities and challenges faced by the Mangyan people. Limited access to education, livelihood opportunities, and basic resources continues to impact many families in the area. Despite these challenges, the community’s resilience, humility, and strong sense of faith were evident throughout the visit.

The mission highlighted the vital role of education and sustainable livelihood programs in creating meaningful, long-term change. Through Pastol ng Mga Dukha’s initiatives, children are given access to learning opportunities, while families are supported through programs that promote self-reliance and dignity.
This experience deeply reinforced Foundation for the Poor’s commitment to empowering marginalized communities and partnering with organizations that address both immediate needs and long-term development. Witnessing the dedication of local missionaries and the strength of the Mangyan people served as a powerful reminder that transformation begins with compassion, presence, and partnership.
As Foundation for the Poor continues its mission in the Philippines and beyond, this visit to Oriental Mindoro stands as a testament to the impact of collaborative efforts rooted in faith, service, and hope.
